1.Who we are

Staked provides a money-backed running accountability service. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at [email protected].

2.What we collect

Account & contact: your email address and, if provided, your name.
Strava data: when you connect Strava, your athlete profile and running activities (dates, distance, duration, type), and access tokens needed to sync them.
Payments: processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation and limited metadata; we do not store your full card number.
Technical & usage: IP address, device and browser information, and how you use the site.
Location / eligibility: approximate location derived from your IP or account, used to confirm you are in a supported country.
Analytics & advertising: where you consent, we use Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to understand traffic and measure advertising.

3.How we use it

to run the service, set targets, verify activity, and process stakes and refunds;
to prevent fraud and enforce fair play;
to communicate with you about your account, cycles and launch;
with your consent, for analytics and advertising;
to comply with legal and financial-record obligations.

Contract: to provide the service you sign up for.
Legitimate interests: fraud prevention, security, and improving the service.
Consent: analytics and advertising cookies, and marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time.
Legal obligation: keeping required financial records.

5.Cookies & tracking

We use essential cookies to make the site work. Analytics and advertising cookies (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel) are only set after you consent via our cookie banner. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using “Cookie settings” in the footer.

We share data only with the service providers we rely on to operate, each under their own terms:

Strava: activity verification;
Stripe: payments and payouts;
Cloudflare: hosting and security;
Google: analytics (with consent);
Meta: advertising measurement (with consent);
our email provider, for account and launch communications.

We do not sell your personal data.

7.International transfers

Some of these providers process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

8.Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. We delete or anonymise it on request, except where we must retain certain records (for example financial records) to meet legal obligations.

9.Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. If you are in the EU/UK, you also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.

10.Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest for sensitive items such as your Strava access tokens. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
